From November 7, 2025, Russian citizens will generally receive only single-entry Schengen visas instead of multiple-entry visas. Exceptions apply, among others, to close family members of EU citizens or EU residents, transport workers, and certain applicants meeting specific criteria.
According to sources, the rule makes travel by Russian citizens to the Schengen area more difficult, as a separate visa application will generally be required for each new trip. For someone relocating to Serbia and planning frequent travel to the EU, this means additional paperwork, time, and visa costs, although the measure does not change entry or residence rules in Serbia itself. It primarily affects Russian citizens who need short-term access to the Schengen area, while previously issued multiple-entry visas are not affected. The change is worth noting for people intending to use Serbia as a base for frequent EU travel; its importance is limited for other relocating residents.
