Kazakhstan’s Business Visa Does Not Authorize Employment

Published: 05.06.2026

A business visa is intended for negotiations, meetings and commercial activities, but does not permit employment by a Kazakhstan-registered entity. Working under this visa may lead to an administrative fine and a deportation order.

For people relocating, the rule separates short business visits from actual employment: meetings under a business visa do not replace a work visa and work authorization. Starting to perform job duties before obtaining the correct status creates a risk of a fine and deportation, potentially disrupting the relocation. The issue primarily concerns entrepreneurs, managers and specialists who initially arrive for meetings and then plan to work locally. If the purpose changes from negotiations to employment, the appropriate immigration route should be arranged in advance.
