Indonesia deports Chinese national for running a business on a visit visa

Published: 02.11.2026

Bima immigration authorities deported a Chinese national who used a multiple-entry visit visa to trade seaweed through a company established in Indonesia. He was detained, deported and banned from re-entering the country for five years.

According to sources, a visit visa does not authorize commercial activity through an Indonesian company; violations can lead to detention, deportation and a lengthy entry ban. For people planning a business or trading activity, this reinforces the need to match the immigration status with the actual work and obtain the appropriate documents in advance. The case is particularly relevant to entrepreneurs and investors using visit or multiple-entry visas. It is less important for ordinary tourists without business activities, but business-focused movers should read it.
