A migration-control bill proposes stricter registration of foreign citizens and stateless persons through the E-mehmon system. The lower house returned the bill for revision after concerns were raised about fines of up to UZS 17.6 million for organizations that register foreigners late.
According to the sources, this is still a bill rather than an enacted new penalty regime: the document was returned for revision. If adopted, it would make organizations hosting foreigners more accountable for late registration through E-mehmon. The issue is most relevant to foreign visitors and to landlords, hotels or other organizations responsible for registration. It is worth monitoring, but the proposed fines should not be treated as rules already in force.
