A bill approved by the Legislative Chamber in its first reading would increase liability for organizations that fail to register foreign nationals and stateless persons promptly through the E-mehmon system. It would also unify the terminology and mechanisms for registration at a place of residence and place of stay.
According to the sources, the changes are still at the bill stage and do not replace the current registration rules. If adopted, hotels, clinics, sanatoriums and other host organizations would face stricter enforcement of the deadlines for submitting foreign-visitor data through E-mehmon. For foreigners, this would make correct registration on arrival and during their stay more important, although the main obligations would fall on the receiving organization. The development is worth monitoring for anyone planning a long stay or moving between addresses in Uzbekistan.
