A 30-day grace period for people previously exempted from overstay fines because of regional flight disruptions ran from 10 June to 9 July 2026. Before the deadline, they could regularise their status or leave the UAE; after 9 July, normal immigration and overstay rules apply again.
According to sources, this was a temporary measure for people unable to leave the UAE on time because of airspace closures and flight cancellations. After 9 July, the special relief no longer applies: affected individuals had to regularise their status or depart, otherwise the ordinary consequences of overstaying apply. The event mainly matters to visitors and residents whose immigration status was affected during the travel disruption. Its relevance for new movers is limited, but for those covered by the measure the deadline was critical.
