UAE suspends new visas for nationals of three countries over Ebola concerns

Published: 04.07.2026

From 6 June 2026, the UAE suspended the issuance of new visas to nationals of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda and South Sudan and restricted entry for travellers arriving from those countries. Travellers who have spent more than 21 consecutive days outside the listed countries are exempt; the measure may be extended depending on the health situation.

According to sources, the measure directly changes the ability of nationals of three countries to obtain new UAE visas and enter the country. Applicants must consider not only nationality but also their travel route and whether they spent more than 21 consecutive days outside the listed countries before arrival. It primarily affects nationals of the DRC, Uganda and South Sudan and people planning to relocate through travel from those countries. Anyone potentially covered should check this before booking travel or submitting a visa application, as the restriction took effect on 6 June and may be extended.
