Residents outside the UAE whose visas expired on or after February 28, 2026, could re-enter without a new entry permit until March 31, 2026. After returning, they had to renew or otherwise regularize their residence status, while related penalties were waived for eligible individuals.
The sources describe a temporary measure for residents stranded abroad because of travel disruptions. It removed the immediate need to obtain a new entry permit and allowed eligible people to return by March 31, carrying evidence of their previous UAE residence, such as an Emirates ID or residence-visa copy. After the window expired, standard entry rules applied again, and sources said that residents still abroad needed a new entry visa while immigration services faced delays. The issue was most relevant to existing workers, families, and other UAE residents, not to new relocation applicants.
