Türkiye Entry Bans Can Last up to Five Years and Be Extended for Security Threats

Published: 22.09.2026

The usual maximum duration of an entry ban in Türkiye is five years. Where there is a serious threat to public order or security, it may be extended by up to ten additional years; in some cases, the ban may be lifted early or entry may be permitted for a limited period.

The sources describe an entry ban as a separate decision from removal and administrative detention. For people who breach visa or residence rules, paying an overstay fine does not by itself cancel an existing ban. An overstay of more than 10 days followed by voluntary departure before a removal decision may result in a ban of up to one year when the stated conditions are met. This is important for tourists, prospective residents and people leaving Türkiye after an immigration violation because the consequences can affect later entry and relocation plans.
