Thailand’s DTV provides a five-year visa with limited continuous stays

Published: 17.11.2025

Thailand’s Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) is valid for five years, but allows a continuous stay of six months. The stay can then be extended for another 180 days through the Immigration Bureau, after which the holder must leave and re-enter Thailand.

According to the source, the DTV offers digital nomads a long-term visa route but does not provide uninterrupted five-year residence. In practice, holders must plan for an extension after the first six months and then leave and re-enter Thailand. This primarily affects remote workers who want to live in Thailand for several years without pursuing a traditional residence permit. It is worth considering when planning a move because the five-year visa validity does not eliminate recurring immigration procedures.
