From 28 August 2026, seven additional activities of foreign businesses are exempt from the need to obtain permission under Thailand’s Foreign Business Act, subject to legal conditions. The list includes certain telecommunications, intra-group administrative and IT services, treasury and some financial activities, as well as petroleum-drilling services.
According to the source, foreign companies in the listed sectors can operate with fewer administrative barriers because they no longer need a separate permission under the Foreign Business Act. This may simplify plans for investors and professionals working through a Thai entity or within an international group. The exemption applies only to specified activities and legal conditions, so it does not replace checking the corporate structure or immigration requirements for employees. The direct effect on ordinary employment-based relocation is limited, while the change is more relevant to entrepreneurs and investors.
