From 15 July, foreigners whose temporary protection ends will be able to apply for temporary residence by providing documents on the purpose of stay and accommodation. Those who do not apply may remain for one additional year only to arrange voluntary return; the amendments also clarify visa procedures and introduce additional requirements for foreign entrepreneurs.
The sources describe a transition mechanism for people whose temporary protection is ending: instead of immediately losing legal status, they may apply for another residence category, but must prove the purpose of stay and accommodation. Those who do not apply may remain for one year only to arrange voluntary return, not to continue an ordinary relocation. The amendments also make visa procedures more structured and extend the no-arrears requirement for foreign entrepreneurs throughout the temporary residence period. This is particularly important for third-country nationals, including Ukrainians under temporary protection, and for entrepreneurs who need to plan their next residence basis in advance.
