Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60 applying for temporary protection in Slovakia must prove that they comply with Ukraine’s military-service obligations. Temporary protection provides access to residence, employment, education and public services without the standard asylum procedure.
According to the source, the new requirement adds a document-related barrier for Ukrainian men of military age applying for temporary protection. This may affect their ability to obtain or maintain legal status and, consequently, access to employment and public services. It primarily concerns Ukrainian men aged 18–60 who are planning to move to Slovakia or apply for protection there. They should take the requirement into account when preparing their documents; it is less relevant to other applicants.
