Singapore updates guidance on entry visas for certain passports

Published: 28.10.2026

Citizens and travel-document holders from a number of countries, including Russia and India, need a valid entry visa to travel to Singapore. A visa is only pre-entry permission and does not guarantee admission or a specific period of stay; the duration of stay is determined by ICA at the checkpoint.

According to ICA, applicants must distinguish an entry visa from immigration status: the visa permits a person to seek entry, but the final decision is made by an officer at the border. The visa’s validity period also differs from the authorised stay, which is recorded in the electronic Visit Pass. Travellers must separately check the SG Arrival Card requirements and the available application channel, including an authorised agent or overseas mission where there is no local Singpass or Corppass contact. This is especially relevant to nationals of visa-required countries, including Russia and India, planning an initial entry or a short stay before relocating.
