Foreigners intending to work in Poland for more than three months in a highly qualified profession can apply for an EU Blue Card temporary residence permit before their current legal status expires. Requirements include a valid passport, qualification documents, health insurance, accommodation and remuneration of at least 150% of the average national salary in the previous year.
According to the voivodeship office, the EU Blue Card provides a basis for residence and employment in Poland, but work is limited to the conditions specified in the permit. Applicants need to prepare qualification evidence, an employment contract, employer documents and submit the application before their current visa or residence card expires. The permit can be issued for up to three years and for three months longer than the stated employment period. This is particularly relevant to non-EU professionals planning a long-term move to Poland through employment.
