A foreigner planning to stay in Poland for more than three months with a spouse holding certain residence permits or forms of international protection may apply for a temporary residence permit for family reunification. Required documents include the spouse’s residence permit, a marriage certificate, insurance, accommodation and stable regular income; the permit allows work without a separate work permit.
According to the Polish voivodeship office, family reunification can provide both a lawful residence basis and access to the labour market. If the spouse is already in Poland with an eligible status, the application must be filed before the applicant’s current lawful stay expires; a spouse abroad may have the application submitted on their behalf with written consent. Applicants should prepare proof of the genuine marriage, income, accommodation and insurance. The rule is most relevant to families where one member already holds a long-term or qualifying protection-based status in Poland.
