Poland restricts work access for certain categories of entrants

Published: 03.11.2025

From 1 June 2025, foreign nationals entering Poland on family-visit visas, non-degree study visas or under visa-free arrangements can no longer work in the country. The measure is part of Poland’s 2025–2030 migration strategy, which emphasizes controlled and selective labor migration.

According to the source, Poland is separating short-term or non-work entry from access to the labor market: family visits, visa-free entry and non-degree study visas can no longer serve as a basis for employment. For people planning a move, choosing the correct visa and immigration basis before entry becomes more important. The rule primarily affects workers, non-degree students and foreigners who expected to start working after entering visa-free. It deserves attention before travel because an unsuitable status may prevent legal employment in Poland.
