Poland plans to prioritise work visas for shortage occupations

Published: 10.07.2026

Poland’s Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy has prepared a draft list of 329 shortage occupations. Applicants in these professions would receive priority when consulates process work-visa applications and provincial governors issue work permits; the draft is currently under public consultation.

According to the source, Poland plans to steer labour migration toward sectors facing shortages and give related applications faster consideration. For people relocating for work, inclusion in the list could provide a practical advantage when applying for a visa or work permit, while other applicants would not receive that priority. The occupations include healthcare specialists, engineers, IT professionals, skilled tradespeople, public-transport drivers and teachers. This is important to check before starting a work-migration process, although the measure is still a draft under consultation.
