Nationals of Russia, Belarus and Türkiye to Require Visas for Montenegro from 1 November 2026

Published: 24.09.2026

Montenegro will end visa-free entry, transit and stay for nationals of Russia, Belarus and Türkiye on 1 November 2026 as part of the alignment of its visa policy with the EU. Until 31 October 2026, nationals of these countries may continue visa-free travel for stays of up to 30 days; a separate agreement is planned for Turkish diplomatic, official and special passport holders.

According to the sources, nationals of Russia, Belarus and Türkiye will need to obtain a visa in advance for entry, transit and stay in Montenegro from 1 November 2026. For people planning relocation, this means accounting for the visa procedure at the trip-preparation stage and not relying on visa-free entry after 31 October. The change primarily affects nationals of these three countries, including those intending to enter Montenegro before applying for a longer-term status. It is a major migration development, so the transition dates should be factored into travel, document and residence planning.
