Mexico approves higher immigration fees for 2027

Published: 28.10.2026

Mexico’s Senate approved amendments to the Federal Fees Law, including a 17.8% increase in the non-resident fee (DNR), from 988 to 1,158 pesos per visitor. The fee for ordinary visas issued in foreign passports was also standardized at 1,639.80 pesos, and the bill was sent to the executive branch.

Short-term visitors will face higher entry-related costs in Mexico: the DNR applies to foreigners arriving by land, sea, or air and is generally included in the airline ticket for air travel. The fee for an ordinary visa will also increase, so applicants should budget for higher consular and entry costs in 2027. The change primarily affects tourists, transit passengers, and foreigners who need a Mexican visa; it matters for relocation budgeting but does not itself change eligibility for residence or the substantive entry requirements.
