Citizens of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will file long-stay applications through VFS Global in Baku

Published: 01.10.2026

From November, citizens of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan travelling to Lithuania for studies or other long-term purposes must submit applications for a national D visa or temporary residence permit through VFS Global in Baku. Applications for short-stay Schengen C visas in those countries remain unchanged.

According to the source, Baku becomes the application point for long-stay Lithuanian visas and temporary residence permits for citizens of the three countries, while short-stay C visas follow a separate procedure. Students and prospective workers will need to include the Azerbaijani VFS centre in their pre-move logistics. The change directly affects citizens of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan planning a long-term move. They should distinguish this route from a Schengen C visa, which does not authorize long-term residence, study or work in Lithuania.
