Overstaying in Kyrgyzstan May Lead to a Re-entry Ban

Published: 08.09.2026

Kyrgyzstan has amended its stay rules: foreigners who overstay may be denied re-entry for a period corresponding to their available visa-free stay. Foreign spouses and minor children of Kyrgyz citizens receive a one-time opportunity to enter and legalize their status within 30 working days.

According to the source, the Unified External Migration Accounting System will calculate periods of stay automatically, and an overstay may affect the person’s ability to re-enter. This makes monitoring departure dates and the validity of visas or other residence documents particularly important for visa-free visitors. Foreign spouses and minor children of Kyrgyz citizens have a specific exception: one entry is allowed to legalize their status within 30 working days. The change is highly relevant to people planning a move because an overstayed period can restrict subsequent entry.
