Kyrgyzstan Approves New Registration Procedure for Foreign Nationals

Published: 21.09.2026

The new procedure sets rules for online and in-person registration after entry, including registration at the actual place of stay and use of the passport presented at entry. For citizens of certain countries, the registration-free period is reduced from 60 to 30 days; from 23 September 2026, Moldovan citizens may stay visa-free for up to 90 days in each 180-day period.

According to sources, registration is now more tightly linked to the document used for entry, the actual place of stay, and the document confirming the right to remain in Kyrgyzstan. A re-registration will be required within 10 working days after changes to the address, passport, purpose, or duration of stay, while a departure of 30 days or more invalidates the previous registration. This is particularly important for foreigners planning a longer stay, renting accommodation, or using visa-free entry, since mistakes with addresses and deadlines may complicate an extension. People planning to relocate should pay close attention to the revised registration periods and coordinate the process with their host.
