For Ukrainians in Italy or considering this route, the extension to 2027 provides a longer and more predictable period of lawful stay. The practical priority is applying for renewal, or submitting a new application, within the permitted timeframe. According to the source, some people have also moved to work permits, special protection or asylum, so temporary protection is not the only possible longer-term pathway.
