On 16 September 2026, Hong Kong’s Immigration Department launched the “Go Hong Kong” mobile application. Eligible frequent visitors can use it to complete e-Channel registration before arrival and use automated immigration channels at the border.
According to the Immigration Department, the app moves e-Channel registration to the pre-arrival stage and may make border processing faster for eligible frequent visitors. It does not change visa requirements or create a right to work, study or reside in Hong Kong, but it simplifies repeated travel under an already permitted status. The measure primarily affects people who cross the border regularly for business, family or other lawful travel. It is worth noting for anyone expecting frequent trips to and from Hong Kong.
