The Czech government has approved a draft law on the entry and residence of foreign nationals. The draft envisages launching the ICAS system on 1 January 2029, allowing foreigners to submit applications, receive notifications, track cases and arrange appointments online.
According to the source, the main change is planned for 2029, when core immigration procedures are expected to move from paper files to the ICAS system. For people relocating to Czechia, this should eventually mean using an electronic account, monitoring digital notifications and handling more of the application process online; employers will also be able to upload documents and communicate with the authorities through the system. The change will primarily affect new visa and residence applicants, workers and employers involved in immigration procedures. It is worth noting for long-term planning, but it does not currently require migrants to change their documents or application process.
