Cyprus sets entry and mobility rules for EU Blue Card holders

Published: 17.02.2026

An EU Blue Card holder may undertake short-term professional mobility in other EU Member States for up to 90 days in any 180-day period and may move to Cyprus for highly qualified employment after 12 months of legal residence in the first Member State. Family members have corresponding entry and reunification procedures, and the Cyprus application must be submitted no later than one month after arrival.

According to the Migration Department, the EU Blue Card provides a dedicated route for highly qualified workers who have already lived legally in another EU Member State for 12 months. Applicants must observe the deadline for filing in Cyprus and provide the required documents and biometric data, while the job must meet the highly qualified employment criteria. The rules also provide an entry and family-reunification framework for accompanying relatives. This is worth attention for professionals planning mobility within the EU rather than only an initial move to Cyprus.
