China’s National Immigration Administration has outlined regional visa-free entry schemes, including stays of up to 30 days in Hainan for nationals of 61 countries, including Russia. Other schemes apply to specific tourist groups arriving by cruise or traveling in Yunnan, Guangxi, the Greater Bay Area, and Hainan, subject to geographic and duration limits.
According to the source, China’s visa-free options depend not only on nationality but also on the region, purpose of travel, route, and travel format. For nationals of Russia and several other countries, the Hainan scheme allows short stays of up to 30 days, but excludes employment and study and limits travel to the province. This may be useful for an exploratory trip or temporary stay, but it does not replace a work, study, or long-term residence visa. People considering relocation should verify that their purpose fits the relevant scheme and observe its geographic and time limits.
