From 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027, holders of ordinary Japanese and South Korean passports may enter Azerbaijan visa-free for tourism. Up to three entries are allowed during the period, with each stay limited to 30 days; stays exceeding 15 days require registration at the place of residence.
According to the source, citizens of Japan and South Korea receive a temporary simplification for tourist entry, not a general authorization for long-term residence or employment. This lowers the barrier for short visits and preliminary relocation planning, but moving, working or staying beyond 30 days still requires the appropriate visa or immigration status. The rule lasts for one year and applies only to holders of ordinary passports from the two countries. Travelers should also account for the registration requirement when staying more than 15 days.
