Foreigners Resume Entry to Azerbaijan via the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku Railway Route

Published: 26.05.2026

From 25 May 2026, entry to and exit from Azerbaijan resumed on the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku railway route for Azerbaijani citizens and foreigners eligible for visa-free entry. The State Migration Service reminded travelers that stays exceeding 15 days require registration and that visa-free stays are subject to limits, including a 90-day-per-calendar-year rule for Russian citizens.

According to the source, the railway route has reopened for entry and exit by foreigners who are eligible for visa-free travel. This provides an additional practical border-crossing option, but it does not remove the usual migration requirements, including registration after 15 days and limits on visa-free stays. Russian citizens are specifically subject to a 90-day-per-calendar-year limit. The update matters most to people traveling regularly between Azerbaijan and Georgia or entering by train, who should verify their visa-free eligibility and stay limits before departure.
