Armenia Discusses Reform of Its Migration Management System

Published: 14.10.2026

A meeting chaired by Armenia’s prime minister discussed directions for reforming migration management במסגרת the draft migration strategy. The proposals include amendments to the citizenship law, digitization of migration systems, and changes to entry, visa, and residence regimes.

According to the source, the meeting concerned reform directions and a draft citizenship-law package rather than rules that have already entered into force. In the longer term, the changes could affect citizenship requirements, residence procedures, and visa arrangements, as the authorities plan to connect digital platforms for citizenship, residence, asylum, and border management. Foreign nationals planning long-term residence or naturalization are the group most likely to be affected. This is worth monitoring for future movers, but it does not currently require changing documents or deadlines without a separate legal decision.
