Armenia will change residence-status procedures from November 1, 2026

Published: 01.11.2026

From November 1, 2026, residence-status applications in Armenia will move to a unified electronic platform. Temporary residence will be issued for up to one year and permanent residence for five years; fees will rise to AMD 150,000 for temporary and AMD 250,000 for permanent status, while a AMD 15,000 fee for work visas will be introduced from January 1, 2027.

According to sources, the reform changes not only the application channel but also the structure of residence statuses: the special status will no longer be issued, while temporary and permanent statuses will have new durations and eligibility grounds. For people relocating to Armenia, this means using the new electronic system, budgeting for higher state fees and accounting for a separate work-visa fee from January 2027. Transitional rules preserve the previous procedure for applications submitted before November 1, and existing special statuses remain valid until their expiry. The change is especially important for new residence applicants, workers and investors, who should review the updated requirements before applying.
