Applicants seeking residence through sole proprietorship will have to show turnover of at least AMD 1 million in the previous 60 days or keep that amount in the business account. Applicants will first receive a one-year permit and may apply for a five-year status after three years of continuous residence; quotas and electronic submission will also be introduced.
According to the sources, from 1 November the business route will no longer be a quick way to obtain a long-term residence status: applicants will first need a one-year permit and evidence of financial activity. Sole proprietors will need turnover or funds of at least AMD 1 million, while companies will need at least AMD 2 million in charter capital and regular tax payments. Quotas may limit the number of applicants, and the application process will move online; new applications for the special 10-year permit will no longer be accepted. This primarily affects Russian citizens, freelancers, digital nomads and entrepreneurs planning to legalize through a business, so they should factor the new requirements into relocation and business-registration plans.
