Residence requirements for sole proprietors will tighten from 1 November 2026

Published: 03.10.2026

From 1 November 2026, a sole proprietor applying for residence will need at least AMD 1 million in business-account funds or AMD 1 million in turnover during the 60 days before applying. Applicants will initially receive a one-year temporary permit, while permanent residence will require three years of temporary residence first.

According to the sources, the entrepreneur route will no longer provide a quick path directly to permanent residence: applicants will first have to maintain temporary residence for three years. Freelancers and small-business owners will need to prepare the required funds or documented turnover and account for higher residence fees. The change is especially important for people planning to relocate through a sole proprietorship after 1 November 2026, while those applying earlier should verify the transitional rules. It is worth close attention because it directly changes both the timeline and the financial threshold for legal residence.
