Armenia Extends Temporary Visa Exemption for Nationals of 111 Countries Holding Certain Residence Permits

Published: 01.07.2026

From July 1, 2026, to July 1, 2027, nationals of 111 countries may enter Armenia without a visa if they hold a valid residence permit issued by the United States, an EU or Schengen country, the UAE or certain Gulf states. The permit must remain valid for at least six months from the date of entry, and visa-free stay is limited to 180 days within a year; Sudan and Yemen were removed from the updated list.

The measure simplifies entry for people who already hold a residence permit from one of the specified jurisdictions, but it does not create Armenian residence status and does not automatically cover every foreign permit holder. Travelers will need to verify their nationality, the permit’s validity period and whether the document can be checked at the border. For eligible movers, this may reduce visa friction during relocation or repeated trips, while excluded nationals and those who fail the conditions remain subject to the ordinary visa rules. It is worth checking carefully before travel, especially for anyone relying on this route before July 2027.
