The government approved a proposal to simplify the declaration system by excluding, among other items, loans and certain one-time transfers, inheritances and gifts worth up to AMD 1 million under specified conditions. Tax returns are partly pre-filled automatically, and declarations for 2025 are scheduled to be filed from 2 March to 1 November 2026.
According to the source, the declaration system for Armenian citizens and tax residents is intended to become less burdensome: some data is pre-filled automatically, while several common types of receipts are proposed to be excluded. This matters most to people who relocate and become Armenian tax residents or use Armenian bank accounts, as deposit income is planned to be reflected automatically. In practice, residents will still need to review the pre-filled return and meet the filing deadline, even if they are not required to enter all information themselves. The change is worth tracking for people living in Armenia who receive transfers, gifts, inheritances or bank income; it is less significant for short-term visitors.
