Argentina’s Ministry of National Security established a Migration Security Program. It is intended to strengthen the capacity of the migration authority and federal security forces in migration control and in preventing, detecting, and investigating migration-related offenses.
According to sources, the program formalizes closer cooperation between the migration authority and security forces and includes the creation of dedicated migration security units. Over time, this may lead to more systematic checks of compliance with entry and residence rules, making it important for foreigners to keep their documents and immigration status in order. It primarily concerns foreigners living in or planning to enter Argentina, especially when facing border or domestic checks. People planning a move should take note of the trend, although the publication itself does not introduce a new visa or residence requirement.
