Decree 681/2026 added new grounds to Argentina’s migration law for refusing entry or residence, including messages of hatred or incitement to violence against Argentines and the desecration of national symbols. Residence cancellation on these grounds may lead to an order to leave or expulsion; legitimate political, academic, and civic criticism is expressly excluded.
According to the source, from 31 July 2026 migration authorities have additional grounds to refuse an foreigner’s entry or cancel their residence status. For people relocating to Argentina, conduct or public statements falling within the new wording could affect both admission and continued residence. The rule primarily concerns foreigners planning to enter, renew their status, or remain long term in Argentina. It is worth noting for all applicants and residents, while legitimate political and civic criticism is expressly excluded.
